Research positions are available in the Center for Electronic Correlations and Magnetism (EKM) of the University of Augsburg, the Chair of Experimental Physics VI, the group of Dr. Alexander Tsirlin:
PhD student
(payment in Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L, 75%)
Postdoc
(payment in Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L)
in the range of the regular working time. The appointment is for 3 years (PhD student) and 2 years (postdoc) with the possibility of extension upon mutual agreement. Job sharing is possible.
The research group works on transition-metal compounds with strong electronic correlations and, potentially, the large spin-orbit coupling. We are particularly interested in systems exhibiting a strong interplay of structural, electronic, and magnetic degrees of freedom and in frustrated magnetic materials with the non-trivial interaction topology. The group has excellent facilities for sample preparation, crystallographic and low-temperature characterization, and established collaborations at the large-scale synchrotron and neutron facilities in Europe. We are seeking candidates with previous experience in condensed-matter physics or solid-state chemistry. The pre-condition of employment is the master degree (for PhD students) or PhD (for postdocs) in physics, chemistry, materials science, or any related field.
Applications including the CV, list of publications, one-page statement of research interests, and contact information of two references should be sent, preferably by e-mail, to:
