The hydrogen storage research group in the Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL, www.uclouvain.be) has an open PhD position.
The project aims for synthesis and investigation of structure and properties of novel light-weight hydrides. An important part of the work consists of using and developing advanced crystallographic methods for characterization of materials under practical conditions employing synchrotron (www.esrf.eu) and neutron (sinq.web.psi.ch) sources, and Laboratory X-rays.
We offer an exiting opportunity to participate in setting up the new research group, to join a network of international collaborations in a dynamic and modern field (next major conference www.mh2012.jp), and to publish in high-impact journals.
Your profile: Master of science (Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics) or an equivalent; background in crystallography is a plus; good English is an asset. The position is available on the 1st October 2011 or later according to an agreement.
To apply, please e-mail your CV, interests and background to Yaroslav Filinchuk, see www.filinchuk.com for contact details and further information.
